In short:

This workshop will address efforts and show best practices in the field of master planning sustainable campus initiatives. Participants gain first-hand impression of how universities around the globe will benefit from experiences made. The experts will not only share best practice but also address unsolved challenges.

Whom it may concern:

If you are interested to share experiences with experts and discuss challenges with regard to the sustainable campus development you should attend this workshop.

Universities have a leadership role in advancing knowledge, technology, and tools needed to create a sustainable future. Research and teaching are essential in this pursuit, but practicing sustainability on campus is a key element as well. Universities can reinforce their commitment to sustainability by consistently integrating sustainable practices in the design and management of their own campus – or undermine their credibility by failing to do so. Today, there is an increasing number of efforts around the globe to “build campuses that teach” with regard to sustainability. All involved can learn valuable lessons from the successes and challenges of other teams.

The international Sustainable Campus Network unites pioneers on campus sustainability from around the globe–decision makers on sustainable campus development and professional experts with responsibility for sustainable construction, energy issues and organizational aspects at major campuses. It aims at enabling a global dialogue and to develop valuable tools for making knowledge from different institutions accessible for shared learning.

The workshop will address issues ranging from broad initiatives to engage students and staff in sustainability initiatives in sustainability programs to focused issues, such as creating buy-in for university-wide greenhouse gas targets or master planning for sustainability. Participants gain a first-hand impression of how universities benefit from experiences of colleagues, and how their own experience can be become most valuable for others world-wide. The experts share not only successes of their programs but also talk about unsolved challenges.
